I have 54g reef thats been running since Oct last year-reef since Feb. Added refugium recently. All is well except some cyano. Inhabitants: pair of clowns, midas blenny, and flame angel. 2 cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp and about 6 nassarius snails. Should I have a larger CUC?

Yes, you need a much larger CUC. Have a look here - http://www.bluezooaquatics.com/productDetail.asp?did=2&pid=1621&cid=313 to get an idea of the various types of critters you'll want to add. The only one I disagree with (as do many others for documented reasons) is the sand sifting starfish.

Rule of thumb 2.5 snails (non-turbo) per gallon. You should have about 20 snails in your tank, perhaps a few less if you add hermit crabs.

I think you meant 1 snail per 2.5 gallons, otherwise the math would work out to needing about 125 snails in a 54g. Good grief...in my 185 I'd need more than 450 snails! :eek1:

Before you start adding more inhabitants to the tank, try and figure out the root cause first. I don't know of anything that eats cynobacteria, so if all else is well, increasing your CUC might be for nothing.

LOL, I will try to engage my brain before typing next time:eek1:
1 snail per 2.5 gallons. Unless you are setting up a SOLR tank (snails only live rock).
