sometimes i've seen groups of bangaii cardinals on the DD, and i know that such a group would not work at all in the average size aquarium. most of us are looking for pairs of this fish.

why not post them in pairs? i've had so much trouble getting pairs of bangaiis, i would absolutely order a pair from DD if i saw it available. sexing them is aparently easy (i have yet to prove it, but my pairs that i have are positive for this method)

if you look at the anus of the bangaii that is healthy. males have two bumps and females only have one bump. dont overfeed the female, or else she'll show the two bumps too.

im also waiting on another pair of sharknose gobies.. my two are definitely not a pair that i bought randomly at the store..

armagedon48,

Thank you for your post. We will check with our Aquaculture Coral & Marine Life Facility regarding the availability of Bangaii Cardinal and Sharknose Goby pairs. We will post back as soon as we have a response.

im in no hurry to order fish right now. i was just recommending the bangaii cardinals be sold in pairs rather in groups. i think its well known that groups of bangaii cardinals in anything other than a huge tank would eventually end up as a pair, resulting in dead bangaii.

i have a great deal of difficulty in getting bangaii that i buy from local stores to live. i pick out a male/female pair out of a group, only to have them die regardless of how i quarantine them. i've been lucky enough to obtain adult pairs from reefs that are being taken down. to be able to order a pair on the DD that has been quarantined already, plus a guarantee, would be well worth the money spent, and potentially saved.

armagedon48,

Thank you for your patience while we checked into this for you. It is rare for us to offer a pair of Bangaii Cardinals because most customers prefer to purchase them in groups. This increases the chances that they will receive a female. We will, however, work on obtaining some pairs.

We hope to have Sharknose Gobies available in a week or so. We would recommend signing up for our Diver’s Den Email Alert (http://www.liveaquaria.com/DiversDen/DDemailSignUp_form.cfm) or RSS Feed (http://www.liveaquaria.com/general/general.cfm?general_pagesid=467) so that you are notified when new items are added.

no need to increase the chances of obtaining a female. you can tell by just looking at them.

hmm, i once knew of a picture that illustrated what im talking about very clearly, but cant find it at the moment. just compare the anus of the bangaii in the photos in the link and you'll see what im talkin about. pass the info along to the folks who work with the fish, please.
