I have a 3-4 inch tridacna maxima. It was sitting upright but swiveled a little and is now on its side, and has been for about 2 months? Color is still very good. Is that normal?

No, that is not normal. You should position the clam so that its mantle is facing up, parrallel to the surface.

usually when they move its to look for more suitable conditions. which tank / lights do you have him under??

as long as his whole mantle can receive light there shouldn't be a problem with the tilt. if parts of the mantle are shaded, they will bleach over time and this can have a very bad impact on the clam.

It's color is still very good. My lights are 2x10,000K actinic 150 watt HQI. It's not shaded at all, so still gets alot of light, just everyones pics theirs are sitting up.

Mine seems to be doing the same. I thought it was because of the powerhead placement, but moved the pump and it still moves. It is not totally on it's side, but close. interesting, thanks for the post.
