okay i lied there is no pic... but dont leave just yet, i have a mantis in my rock that i noticed yesterdaybut seeing these posts kind amakes me want one as a pet, using a standad little plastic 10 gal with a fluval 104 hooked up could i sustain his life, it will of course have live sand and some rocks from my 92 gal frogfish tank to help filter and wutnot, i will use water directly from my tank and fill the tank up with ro water, would this work.

like i said i dont have a pic but he is a smasher with a brown drab color

would this setup work?

I didn't mean that I won't tell you, I meant that I don't know anything about mantis shrimp.

Sorry I was unclear, If I knew anything I would be more than happy to help you :)

the 10 gallon setup would definately work, the fishbowl would work too, depending on the size of your mantis. i have a 4 inch peacock mantis in a glass 10 gallon right now. from what dr. caldwell has said, you dont hafta worry much about them breaking glass until they get around 5 inches or more, but the one you have probably wont get that big anywayz. depending on where you got your rock from. if its florida rock i'd say its a neogonodactylus that will only get about 3 inches.
