Im wondering who out there has used spa flex for their drain or returns and how its holding up? Can standard fittings be pvc cemented to the spa flex and is it strong?

Thanks

Have been using it for returns for years. Very strong, but only semi flexible.

You can heat it up with hot water. In a bucket or in the tup. To shape it, some what.

I used a hairdryer to heat up the ends to get the fittings in.

You can clamp the ends. Metal outside water or nylon on both ends if you want.

Standard Spa Flex fits right into schedule 40 PVC fittings. I'm not sure how you would clamp it at the ends onto a fitting, since it fits into slip fittings.... should be used for hose barb applications.

The stuff I got from Savko was compeltely flexible right out of the box also.... didn't have to heat it up or anything.

I used primer and glue with regular schedule 40 PVC fittings and everything worked out just fine.

I used a little spaflex on one of my drains on my system. Works great. I used standard PVC fittings with flexible pvc cement. Some will argue you can use standard cement but why risk it for a couple bucks. ;)

Is flexible pvc cement readily available at lowes or home depot? I dont ever recall seeing it, maybe cause ive never looked intentionally?

Lowes carries it. I'm not sure about HD.

I have always used the same cement I use for hard PVC.

is the spa flex available at lowes or home depot or is it something that has to be tracked down online?

It really depends on the store. I was able to find some SpaFlex at one HD, but not at another. And it was in a spot that I would have never found it, was lucky and found someone willing to help me.

What's spaflex? :D

I pick mine up local (lucky me, Savko.com IS local). They recommend using Weld-on 795 for any connections that have spaflex. I'd 0% failure/leak rate for who knows how many (probably 100+) connections.

I think you need a spaflex intervention. ;)
