Where is the best place to purchase plastic water containers online? Looking for something rectangular, 40 to 50 gals. for RO/DI water and mixing saltwater up.

Thanks,
Scott

If you're not looking for a custom size/shape, check at your local home depot or lowes. Rubbermaid brute-type trashcans are used by many. I've been using a generic brand plastic 32 gallon trashcan I got at Lowes for three years. I use an 18 gallon rubbermaid "rough neck" storage bin as a topoff reservoir.

I was always scared to use the Rubbermaid Brute trash cans because they didn't say ( FOOD SAFE ) on them. Rubbermaid does make FOOD SAFE containers but they are much smaller.

HOWEVER, Years ago & hearing that people are using them, I bought a couple of them. Everything has been just fine & with no problems.

Looking for something rectangular with some type of screw on or tighter fitting lid than trash cans have.

I got a 65 gallon polyethelene water storage container that has an 8" opening with a screw-on cover at my local Farm & Fleet. It doesn't say "food grade" on it but I've used it to store water both for my cichlids and my reef for several years now with no issues. It's cylindrical, though, not rectangular.

Couldn't have paid too much for it, 'cuz I don't remember the price. :D

Yeah, using something labeled "food safe" is a good move, but I guess I've made myself a guinea pig for using ones that aren't labeled food safe. Never caused any issues i've noticed.

I picked up 2 55 gallon plastic drums from the feed store for $20 a piece. I have a float valve for my ro/di and keep the other mixed saltwater with a small powerhead in it.
