The blog on b-box just posted some amazing pics of a adult false and true personifer. I Think the false is by far nicer looking but it may b/c the false is a male and the true is a female. Am I correct? T

I think the true is a submale. Not full adult colors. I wonder if their the same size.

I have always thought the false look better. That one is really nice.

The pic of the true in Michaels book is jaw dropping. I have a trio of meredithi, and wouldnt trade them for the world.

i love meredithi. They have acquired a bad rep over the years of not doing well, but i have always had great success with them. The true looks to be in the midst of changing to a male, more on the female side though. I'm pretty sure they look exactly the same except the black stripe on the tail when they are males.

I got a Meredithi last year from Blue Zoo and love it. It was around 2.5" and was a bit skinny when I first got him. It managed to gain weight once put in the display and has been healthy ever since. I actually sold my Achille's because it kept harassing the Meredithi. I have to say that mine has a very outgoing and inquisitive personality.

Do these angels start out as female and morph into male? Is that why there is only ever big males for sale?

For instance, if I bought a 3-4" female, do I have a decent chance of ending up with a male or by that size is there no chance at all it will ever be a male?

Speaking of the meredithi, not the true personifer.

It is rare to see a true male Meredithi under 6". The Meridithi I have grew to around 3.5" within the last year and is taking on the appearance of a male. By that I mean the coloration on its face is more pronounced and colorful, its gill spines are elongated, and the body is longer and not rounded. Even though its appearance would suggest it is turning into a male, there is still no guarantee that it will become a full male. If you definitely want the male, I would wait and buy one at the above mentioned size instead of taking the chance of a juvenile that may or may not turn into a male.
