Thursday night smelled like something was on burning and looks like the culprit is my T5 fixture. Its a retrofit and taking it off didn't help narrow down the problem.

There's 3 ballasts on the backside and 2 power switches for 6 bulbs. 2 of the bulb sockets in the middle aren't working and the fixture still smells. I would think one of the ballasts is burnt out, but not sure how to troubleshot or fix. Ballasts are Workhorse 5.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Here's some pictures. Sorry for the poor quality from my phone.

And I believe this is the wiring diagram: http://www.fulham.com/WDpdf/wire11.pdf

Remove the bulbs that aren't working and check the sockets for arcing or heat damage. Pull on the wire to the socket and make sure it's snug as well as the jumper. Trace the wires back to the ballast and inspect. So you have 2 bulbs on one switch and 4 on the other, which bulbs are out? If you swap bulb positions do the bulbs light? If they do, you probably just need to replace the ballast. Unplug and cut and splice wires, pretty easy. If your near Fullerton, I can test and have a used ballast, just pm me.

Thanks Charles, I'm located in Fullerton as well.

The wiring is connected to the middle ballast, but I'm struggling to get out off - lug nuts seem to be glued in place. Correct, 4 bulbs are connected to 1 switch and 2 of those bulbs are out. Switched the bulbs and its definitely the ballast that's out.

Anywhere local I can get a replacement ballast?
