Well, I came back from holiday today to find my apartment stinking and a forest of pure white sps.
It's back to the drawing board. One of the 4 way plugs tripped. The one which runs the chiller pump.
Devastated:(

Thanks all. I am trying to to look forward to the rebuild - a form of therapy I suppose. The tank is in a real state. Cloudy, smelling.
The fish have coped well so far. I have lost sunburst anthias, mandarin (I think but could be MIA for now) Yellow Bellied Hippo Tang (which I have been wanting to remove for several months now)
My Genicanthus female looks distressed but all others seem ok - at the moment.

I am waiting on my water delivery to complete another 40% WC. I did one yesterday. My skimmer is going crazy.
I can't find the tang and it was a big one. Hopefully it has already been cleaned up.

Anybody want some media for a calcium reactor? I have 2 buckets full.

I'm sorry Matt. That's anyones nightmare to come home to.
I always dread leaving my tank for just that reason. I hope everything turns out positive for you. You sound positive already. Good luck .

Matt, I am sorry for your losses. It is such a scary thing when we are always just one bad piece of luck from disaster in this hobby.

Thanks Brad and Brian.

I am pretty devastated.
Have spent all day trying to get the water inhabitable. My prized fish are still in there and ok - at the moment.
I have taken out a lot of rock (something I wished I had never put in there) So...every cloud etc. I actually like the new look of the tank, aside from the lack of corals, fish and cloudy smelly water.

That damn regal tang is still in there. I guess he deserves to stay after all this, but a 150g is just not big enough for it :(

Thanks Joyce and Adrienne
I have bought some high load multi plugs (thats what we call them in the UK) today. Have changed the circuitry load from my power outlets so, hopefully, I will avoid this happening again.
The next set up will be better (therapy again)

....yeh...that damn Regal....have tried hooks, fish traps...massive tank crashes....the works!!!

That almost happened to me last December, through a short in my heater. Just caught it in time, but it was a REAL close call.. <shudder>
Condolences, I think a rebuild the best possible therapy..

Matt take the opportunity and remove all the fish that you don't want now, I can help if you like. Trade them in and get some Angels!

I had my 75 reef being watched by a neighbor kid who just graduated high school last month for the entire month and he didn't top the tank off. Despite all the 5 gallons buckets of water surrounding the tank. Everything was dead.

Did you ask him to top off? One time I had a friend come over to watch and feed for me while I was out 2 weeks. He couldn't remember which bucket I told him to use and he used the SW bucket. I got a call toward the end of the trip that the fish doesn't look too good. Next time I'll write it out on the check list and label the buckets.
