Setting up a frag tank running off the same water column as my display tank. Should I feed the frag tank from return or overflow? There is a lot of wasted water energy from the overflow and though it would be good to use. The question I had was since the water will be food/nutrient rich is that a good or bad thing? Would it be best to T is off the return so it gets fresh return water?

Same thing for the chiller. Is it bad to run off the weir/overflow?

thanks

If you feed you frag tank from the overflow the all the detritus will concentrate at bottom of frag tank and this will cause high po4 and no3 .

Ok, that make sense. What about the chiller? would that be ok direct from the overflow?

I doubt the detritus will settle in the frag tank. The frag tank will still go to the sump correct? And the frag tank will likely have high flow. So the detritus will settle in the lowest flow area which will be the sump, or get filtered through filter socks before it reaches the sump like most peoples tanks.

Hi guys,

thanks for the input. Yes the frag tank will go the sump and have HIGH flow. I'll will have an additional vortech mp40 in there. I'm happy to vacuum detris from the frag tank monthly if thats my only concern
