I see small tentacles come out when I feed the tank but no active feeding response really.

mysis, silverside pieces, etc. I use rods coral food too. Its best to feed right before the lights come on or at night when they are off.

Very nice coral you have there.

Great looking open brain. Good score!

My Red Trachyphyllia took a few weeks to really plump up nicely. At first the tentacles would come out slowly and it took a while to eat. A year later and they whip out any time of day when there's food in the water. You can practically hear the chomping and slurping as it devours frozen mysis at an amazing pace. I only feed it once every two to three weeks mostly in the evening well before lights out. I turn off my pumps and use a Kent Marine Nautilus Sea Squirt Feeding Prong to squirt mysis directly on the tentacles. It's also good for beating the clownfish away so they don't steal the food.

Any time food or my hand hits the water the tentacles come out.

Shortly after the lights go out it becomes mostly tentacles.

Dang Octopus your Trachy is hungry lol!! Very pretty piece. I have a similar one myself :)

Uhuru, yours is pretty as well! It looks healthy. I feed my mysis and Rods interchangeably. If I don't see it's feeders out,I normally kinda just blow a little on it with a turkey baster and once it knows there's food, the feeding frenzy begins lol!!

It is good to hear that other people have to beat their clown fish away to keep 'em from stealing food...

Thanks ReeferChick85. Always Hungry! Five minutes after eating a huge meal the tentacles come out looking for more.

My Orange Ocellaris isn't too bad about stealing food, but the female Black Ocellaris is a PIG. She even tries to eat my hand when I'm working in the aquarium. Non stop attacks until I retreat, feed or beat with a stick.
