I continue to have issues with my new MP 10 pump. I set it up 4 days ago with the Ice Cap back-up. All was well until I found it stalled the morning following installation. I reset the pump by cycling the power and got it back running. Since that time it "self stalled" several more times and as a precaution, I disassembled the wet end and cleaned it out "just in case" of foreign matter or plastic flash jaming the thing. All was well again and now I find that evey time I set Night Mode, it stalls when the 10 hours is up and it "trys" to switch back to Reef Crest mode.
I'm requesting my supplier (Aquarium Specialty-very good folks) to please replace the pump as soon as possible as I have more than $6000 worth of frags and coral in a 20 gal tank. I'm real concerned and really bumed out that I seem to have the only defective controller ever sent out by Ecotech. I'm hoping it's the one in a million............8-(

Not one-in-a-million, more like one-in-five-hundred or so: Just bad luck. I'm sure Scott will get you taken care of and we'll go from there.
So far every MP10 that we've received back (fewer than a handful) has been water damaged or had something silly wrong with it that is somewhat impossible to avoid.
As far as new product launches go, I'm pretty darn happy with the MP10' results.

Thanks, Tim. As you well know the Vortech series of pumps represents one of the most important inovations in circulation ever offered. I'm hanging in there and have just talked to Steve in your customer service. He offered to have me ship it directly to Ecotech if there is any delay in getting a new pump on it's way from the good folks at Aquarium Specialty. Scott has been great to work with and I need to pace myself and not enter "tank emergency" mode. I've got back-up pumps that I can use and I'll stop setting Night Mode until I can get a new pump in place. I mounted my controller and back-up WAY away from water and am aware of keeping the dry section of the pump DRY. I think this is a legitimate "boo-boo" in the controller. I appreciate the quick reply.

screebo-
Thanks very much for your kind comments.
Understood. Things happen and you're absolutely right the fault could lie on our end. Once we get the unit back we'll know what's up. Either way we're here to take care of you and will do everything within our power to do so. In the mean time if you suspect your tank will be without flow just take the proper precautions and have some backup ready.

Will do. Tim. I'll likely put the SEIO pumps (two of them) back into the tank until I get this resolved. When I bought the SEIOs, I though how nice and compact they were in comparison to the Koralia pumps that they replaced. Now I consider the SEIO pumps antiquated and obsolete back-ups only but they are ready for emergency duty!
I've asked my local livestock/dry goods store (Aquarium Gallery in Milpitas, CA) if they would do a courtesy exhange with me (even though I purchased the unit from Scott) as they are an EcoTech distributer too! I've purchased thousands worth of coral from them so they may be the ones that actually send back this unit. It will be interesting to know what end diagnosis comes up for the failure. I'm a techie so I'll follow it closely. Great team work..............THANKS.

Kelly and Ryan were in the office all week and I was on vacation (worked some as usual while on vacation). They would have been able to help you with this right away even though this is potentially an Ecotech warranty issue. If you still need assistance then please don't hesitate to contact us.
