Randy's 2 Part Questions

Hey Everyone,

I've been reading up on Randy's 2 part recipe and I have a couple of questions.

CaCl- Can I use Leslie's Hardness Plus? I think its close to 100% CaCl according to the sheet I saw in the store. How do I adjust the recipe? I see where he talks about substituting the DowFlake for other, more concentracted versions of the Calcium Chloride, but I think the stuff from Leslie's is of an even higher concentration.

My calcium is pretty low, around 200.

My alk is at 10.8dKh.

My PH is usually stable around 8.1.

This leads me to my next question, which Recipe should I use. I am thinking #2 because the PH swing would be less. Is this correct?

Lasly, where do I get the Magnesium ingredient locally? I'm in Orange County.

80% of leslie calcium plus would be 400grams or 2 cups mix with one gallon of ro/di water.

Awesome, that's the same as Hardness Plus right? I just want to be sure. I am hearing mixed opinions on using it.

Any idea where I can get Magnesium Chloride?

Can I just use Tech M for now? I have a ton of that.

Hardness plus works fine. Yes you can use Tech M.

I don't know. I bought my magnesium from brs. It is cheap and you only dose it when are done dosing cal and alk. It takes me months finish dosing cal and alk. I have 75 gallon sps tank. My cal is 440 and alk is 9-10.

What is the rate that I should bump my levels?

Mag I think was 100ppm per day max... I can't remember the others.

Oh and I will confirm my test kits with my LFS.

I have two kits for Ca, both show really low.

I also have two for Alk, one read 10.5 and the other 11 dkh.
