I haven't seen anything on blue spots specifically, but there is stuff around for Jawfish in general.

MOFIB (http://www.marinebreeder.org/) is a great place to start.

I had them spawn for me but you already know this. I am also Midnight Angel on MOFIB.

There is a new post on MOFIB about two fighting bad. You might want to check it out. I am in no way an expert on them. All together I've had ten. Not really enough to say much about them but more than most people. I want to share what I've seen with mine to help people but I feel strange posting because I really only know the fish I've had. And I'm not sure if it is enough to make any real assumptions. So I guess what I'm trying to say is maybe at this point everything should be taken with a grain of salt. Anyway check out that post too.

A group in Baja got them breeding back in the late 90's to early 00. They did it by simulating the temp change the Sea of Cortez experiences. They also chose small ones as large ones tend not to breed (so they told me). IIRc there was a few other tricks, like having far more then 10 to work with. Not much for you to go on, contact them yourself if you want more - CICIMAR is the group.

Thank you so much for the info Gresham. But fwiw my fish did spawn. But you are right it would take more than 10 to really make any real assumptions about these guys. Again thanks for posting !!!!!

Good luck with them and keep us posted. Maybe I'll get some more myself soon. It sure would be nice to see some little ones. And the more we all have the better our chances.

My bluespots are also spawning but so far the male either eats them or spits them out after 4 or 5 days. I posted on MOFIB (under sabeypets) and no one had any info. Reef Sanctuary has a Bluespot club forum that a couple of us are trying to breed them.

My male always ate the eggs too. But I lost the female after only three spawns. So sabeypets I hope your guy finally gets it right. How many spawns has it been for yours ? I'm sorry no one posted on MOFIB. But fwiw I have only been on there for a couple weeks. I am so glad that you posted here. You are the only other hobbyist that I know of to have these guys spawn. Your post will help inspire others to try so thanks. Please keep us posted and I think the Bluespot club sounds awesome.

IT'S HARD GETTING INFO ON BSJF

oceanarus

Well fwiw I don't think there are a lot of people keeping secrets or anything. I think it is just most people can't find more than one of these at a time. And most people these days may not have the money to spend on them. And lastly they have a reputation for being more aggressive so that fear keeps some people from trying to put more than one in a tank. I remember when I got my first two how amazed people were that I had put them in a ten gallon tank. Well they never fought once (it ended up being two females). I'm not telling people to do that here by any means. But my point here is sometimes it pays to try something that people never have. And at that time I had never heard of anybody keeping more than one. So I have had no one to ask or share with til now. So thanks to you guys as well for making me feel like I'm not crazy for wanting to try.

Well if you are asking about my bluespots there are two pair here in a 30 gallon tank getting on great but they have not spawned. It was months before my other pair did. And I have not had these guys long. I plan on getting more soon. But another project has had my attention these days. How are yours doing ?
