hello,
i was woundering what a good verity of food was to feed? curently i have a clarkii clown, a yellow tail damsel, a blue damsel, and a banded sleeper goby. i feed them with hikari mysis shrimp "bio-encapsulated with multi-vitamins" once in the morning and once at night, i also feed nutrafin max marine flake food once or twice a week. what would be a better varity for them? thank you for your help

as long as it's nutritious food, the more variety the better. I feed frozen mysis, frozen spirulina brine, frozen prawn roe, frozen cyclopeeze, spectrum pellets and the occasional frozen blood worm twice daily.

do you feed a little of all that twice a day?

Rod's food original formula, it's a bit pricey but it has a bit of everythign it in and even my mandarin eats it. i personally think that if you can only feed one kinda of food, this should be it.

I bought every type of good quality flake and pellet foods I could find and mixed them all up in a huge mixing bowl and then put the mix back into the containers.

I also bought a 15-16 different frozen foods, but don't usually feed them unless I have new finicky fish that are not eating. If I do feed them, I break of some of each type and keep the mix in a container in the refrigerator.

i clip nori every other day into my tank for the tangs.

i then alternate my daily food between two feeding plans.

1. rods food

2. spectrum pellets + cyclop-freeze

i put two drops of liquid garlic into the food and let it sit for 20 minutes before feeding.

Sorry to hijack this thread :D

How fine do you blend the food? Do you use any gel based powder to bind the food together? TIA

When making your own food I think its still important to add frozen mysis, cyclopeze and all that good stuff you get at your LFS mostly because those are formulated specifically for marine fish and most of the time thats what your new additions will be accustomed to eating. When making your own food its also good to add vitamins such as Vita Chem or Selcon in there as well.

I used to make my own
bur recently changed to a retail homemade food that is killer and way cheaper what it used to cost me.
Roggersreefood it has everything I used to mix but ime much better and cheaper than making it myself.
I buy it locally but a friend in Orlando told me it's retal now.
