Just got my tank the other day, and the previous owner gave me a common clownfish with it. I'd like to get a bubble tip anemone for him but do I run a risk of the anemone not hosting him?

The tank was already established when I bought it. Since setting it up, I've tested the water and all of my levels are perfect, so introducing an anemone into the tank should not be an issue as far as water quality issues are concerned.

what kind of clown? You do run a risk of the anemone not hosting him.

I'll try to make it easier, here's a picture.

Its hit or miss, but its natural instinct for clowns to host in a coral so i'd say your chances are fairly good. The real question is can you tank sustain a BTA? They require very good water and medium light. Also if you plan on keeping other corals it may "walk" around and destroy everything in its path.

Right now I'm running a 250w MH and water quality is good. I've had an anemone before in my old 60g, but I purchased the clownfish and anemone together from an LFS.

Sounds like I'll never know unless I try then.
