It depends on you, I have an 80 gallon and I try to change bet/10 and 20 gal a week. Some people go larger, maybe 30 gal, only twice a month. It's your preference. Some people believe with the right filtration, h20 changes are not necessary. Maybe in a FOWLR, but in a reef, I think they are necessary if only to replenish your trace elements.

it really does depend on what you keep and what demands are put on the system, however 10% weekly is a good starting point

Its best to do a 10% weekly...or 20% every 2 weeks. This is total volume of water.

I have always done the 20% every two weeks.....However I have found that the 10% every week works better & takes less time.

I have even gone as far as doing a 2% every 3 days in my office BioCube.

Everything looks awesome & doing well

I do 10 gal every thursday, in my 72 bow. My nitrates have never been above 2ppm. And it also helps keep the tank stable as far as trace elements go.

I agree 10% is a good starting point, if you are not sure on what to do. Over time, you will develop a "feel" for the condition of your tank/reef and will come up with your own water changing routine and schedule that best fits your needs.
