View Full Version : ph creeping

My PH stayed at 8.4 until I added my calcium reactor and now it has creeped up to 8.55 during the day. I have the drip on the lowest possible time roughly 1 drip per 2 seconds. Although I'm seeing an increase in growth now, how can i lower my ph that 1.5 percent to stay within the acceptable limit? I'm already aware of the basic methods but their not consistant.

I wouldn't worry about 8.55 to be honest, if it keeps going up it may be a problem but I wouldn't worry now....

I don't personally use a calcium reactor, but I thought one of the considerations with them is that they tend to lower pH. It's weird that it is creeping up on you. 8.5 sounds high to me.

What is your pH before the lights come on? Have you measured the pH of the reactor's effluent?

it was 8.2 at night 8.4 during the day. now it's 8.4 at night 8.55 during the day.

i havent tested the calcium reactor water this week. i should do that.

8.5 isn't really that high trust me, what's your KH? PH fluctuates all the time, test it throughout the day & at night when the lights are off & I wouldn't be surprised if it's different every single time.... Hopefully someone else will chime in....I personally pay more attention to my KH then I do to my PH because again, PH will fluctuate due to a bunch of different variables....
