I have a chaeto refugium in 1st compartment of JBJ Nano. Still have minor Hair Algae problem. Has anybody used the Reactor from Sapphire Aquatics.

I am considering using that instead of having chaeto.
Thanks.

Have not used that one but it does look interesting. It should work fine for GFO. Rowa media works the best IMO when it tumbles and that reactor looks like it would work good.

If your chaeto is growing then its working. If it is green in some areas and brown in others it is dying out which will release nutrients back into the system (i.e.phosphate/nitrate etc.). Take a good look at it and watch to see if it is growing because chaeto works well. You still could keep your chaeto and run the reactor with only a few grams of GFO and it will be fine.
Hope that helps

Are you harvesting the chaeto?
A single Mexican turbo snail will eat your hair algae and it's cheaper than a reactor and the media.
