Hey guys,

Ive been running 150W phoenix 14K for some time now and im starting to hate the monochrome blue hue that it gives and im looking for something less blue yet has the PAR levels that the phoenix gives out. it could even be a 10K bulb that is white and not so yellow.

the bulb will be ran on an Aquamedic HQI ballast, so any true HQI bulbs are welcomed any thoughts?

i was thinking about the reeflux 12K before i heard the PAR levels were low and they were designed for e-ballasts.

How about the XM 10k? I have read that the Phoenix 150w tends to run pretty blue, even more so than the 250w Phoenix.

I would try the XM 10k or maybe a Hamilton 14k?

I have a hamilton 14k and it's pretty blue, not as bright as a 10k (a lot more shadows) but corals do pop a lot more.

i have seen a phoenix 250W and its alot more crisp white than compared to my 150W so its true.

I've had Hamiltons and Phoenix. I prefer the blue of the phoenix, but one bulb you might want to check into is the Hikari Arcadias. I had a 14k that was brighter blue than the hamilton.

Only bad thing is it costs more than either!

im not sure if the reeflux 12K has lower PAR than the phoenix but people say the PAR levels of that bulbs is fairly low as well as color differ from bulb to bulb and its not a constant color temp... also they are ment to be driven on e-ballast not HQI

i'll look into the AB 13K

so far there seems to be alot of people recommending the hamiltons i'll look into that one first, for those who has used it is it a white bulb with a bit of blue? or something close to the phoenix on HQI ballasts

Iwasaki 50k. Do not be fooled by the 50k, it is not as blue as the Phoenix and brings out the colors of the corals.

im now considering the hamilton 14K and the ushio 14K. ive read quite a few reviews saying the ushio 14K is very white with little amount of blue but nothing really much on the hamiltons. i have suppliment T5s that i can add to the bulb so the color doesnt really bother me, which of the 2 bulb has more PAR on M81 HQI ballasts
