for those with canopies on large tanks, what kind of lifts do you use get them on and off (up and down)?

I built a 4x4 once that I had to rig a cable and pully system to raise. Worked pretty well.

several people have recommended lifts like these

Those gas struts or springs aren't exactly what I was thinking of. I'm looking for a way to lift the canopy straight up off of the tank.

I do appreciate the link though because something like that would be nice to make raising the door at the front of the canopy easier. I considered looking in an auto parts store for something like this but these will probably hold up better arround salt water.

I have a electric actuator, but it only moves 12" you can buy ones to 36"....so Im going to use a 110v wench in the attic and lift it from 2 cables, quite easy and cheap, about 100.00 ...

I'm going to be installing an electric winch in my attach this weekend that will lift my canopy. Only $50 bucks from harbor freight.
