Water question

I am getting a white like film or haze sitting on top of the water. Does any one know what causes this. I have one powerhead in there for movement and this just started after almost 2yrs. of having the tank up. Thanks

You need to have the surface of the tank really churning with that powerhead ---that will prevent that building up.
Do you have a surface skimmer on the 55 gal--if so point the power head at the surface and towards the skimmer.

for the 55 gal you should have a flow rate on 1100-2200 gph. If you don't have that already you should also consider adding another power head

I have the same thing, I started getting it after I took out one of my powerheads. I'm putting a new bigger powerhead in soon.

that will fix the problem as long as the surface area is churning and uncovered. A major amount of gas exchange occurs at the surface so it is very important to have alot of water movement there.
