why would copper be in live rock? Boiling live rock will make it dead rock.

No copper can't be removed by boiling. I would look in to cuprasorb or a muriatic acid baths as a more likely solution but never tried removing copper myeslf

Cooper will leach out of the rock for a very long time. Either use it in a fowlr tank or toss it.
