View Full Version : Flow in a 90?

I just added another koralia 4 to my tank. That makes two #4's, one #3, with a mag 9.5 for a return on a 90.
Does anyone think that's unnecessary, or too much flow? Or is that about right for the tank?
I have a 6-7" porcupine puffer. So it is mostly open swimming area with a few shrooms, and zoas.

dam....that seems like a lot but im not sure. I only have a Mag 9.5, im looking to get two K4's and that's it. Hey reefergeorge, does it appear like too much flow?

No, your headed in the right direction. I have a 90 with 2 K4's and a K3 with a Mag12 as a return and its just right.

Two k4's and a modded maxi-jet 1200 keep things gently moving all over the tank in mine- If I were doing nothing but SPS it wouldn't be enough.

Wow....thats major water movement. lol, hey are you getting maximum output with your Mag12? How big are the overflow holes?

In my 90, i started with two K-4's. I couldn't get the sand to stop blowing around, no matter how I positioned the K-4's, so i downgraded one to a K-3. One K-4 and One K-3 seems like a good balance.

I have a Quiet One 6000 return, Tunze 6025 modded just a little and a K2 and my sand has gullies in it. Looks like a lot of flow with everything whipping about. But I don't think enough is getting behind my rock. And I don't want them on the side glass.

I'd have to imagine ReeferG your tank must be spinning.

In my 80, I have a mag 9 and 2 maxi-jet 1200 with the 1600 mod and have sand moving most everywhere. How dod you have your positioned?
