Ack! Lame T5 DIY question

OK, I know this is rather sad, however I haven't had T5's before.
I am retrofitting 4 4' T5's into my canopy. Is there a standard on how far apart you place your IceCap T5 sockets, or do you just fit them with the tube and then add a 1/4" or so slack to allow them to be installed/pulled ?

It really depends on you reflectors if they are ind. I would mount them first then mount the socket, centered of each reflector....if using one big reflector just space them like a 1/2" apart if you have the room...but I would recomend single reflectors for t5s there pretty much useless with out it...

OK I get it now. You unscrew the caps first, and lift the lamp out with both caps still on the lamp. I thought there was a way to install the lamp with caps on, pushing the lamp through the cap to seating position. Not enough space on other end, now I know why.....:confused:
