Lunar Lights

well, since im a mobile electronics nut (and poor) i decided to use a 48 inch 7 color light bar for under a car. I can change the colors by giving 12volts to certain wires (so far Red, Blue, Green) is there a certain color that is recommended? It seems a bit bright too, so i taped off every 2 leds and lefts every two visiable...

my question is..
are these okay to have on all night? and how much light should i have for nighttime (i dont want day and night cycles getting screwed up) right now i can see the whole tank pretty well with all the other lights off. haven't tried it yet after taping lights off.

If you can read by the light then there's too much. Color is up to you.

i'll keep that in mind, have to tape off a bunch more lights....i actaully prefer it with all the leds on (green, red, blue) gives it a rainbow blue look with some white.
