Has anyone done this? The fan isn't overly loud (although it could be better), but it's the pitch. I'd really like to replace it with a quieter computer fan, but I'm certainly no electrician!

I haven't done it on a Sundial fixture, but have on others. Its fairly simple.

1. Unplug the fixture
2. Measure the fan and make sure you can get one of same size
3. Remove bulbs to prevent accidents
4. Unscrew and remove fan
5. Cut wires leaving enough left over to work with (extra never hurts)
6. Cut new fans wires (to remove the connector)
7. Strip both fixture wires and fan wires
8. Splice them together and tape with electrical tape ensuring that its not exposed to air (preventing corrosion)
9. Test the fan (if it spins in the wrong direction, just switch the wires)
10. Put it back together! And Voila!

To add to ^^, just be sure of the voltage. Some run 120V fans, some 12v. There should be a model number on the fan you remove- just google it to find the specs and try to get something that matches it in airflow.

I replaced a fan that burnt out on my Current Outer Orbit fixture, it wasnt too difficult and i have very little electrical experience.

That's great news! Thanks guys! My husband especially will be thrilled. Those kind of high pitched humming noises drive him batty and he gets enough of that from me! ;)
