Im trying to figure out if this is enough cleaner crew for my new 55 gallon.

Right now I have

Mexican hermits (8)
Mexican Turbo Snail (1)
Coral Banded shrimp

Do I need anything else?

I wish you had asked first. I would have suggested maybe one hermit and about 20 mixed snails. Hermits tend to eat anything they get there pinchers on while snails do the real work of cleaning the glass and rock of algae.

Some more snails to help keep up on glass and powerhead areas where the crabs cant reach

Thing is I'm not a big snail guy. And the last time I purchased a few they all died within a week. Im pretty sure there was a few reasons for that though. I would def add more mexican turbos but I dont know how many or if that is a good idea.

the only thing i worry about when people say only buy snails, is that i cant think of any good algae eating snails that eat off the sand..... ?

dwarf cerith and nassarius vibex keep my sand bed sparkling clean. The dwarf ceriths are also small enough to get into all the nooks and crannies that the bigger snails and crabs cant get to.

This would be my reccommendation for a 55 gal CUC

5-10 tonga nassirius snails - in sand bed
10 narssisuris vibex ( they are really tiny) in sand bed

10 cerith sand bed during the day glass and rocks at night

5 astrea
5 margarita
5 bumblbee

I find that a single sally light foot can replace an army of hermits. So I tend to get alot more snails as they really do get the job done.
