I know this isn't a very good photo but I'm sure someone will be able to identify these critters. They are about 1 mm long and they are all over the back of my thank. Jim

I think you hit the nail on the head. Now that you mention it, I do recall reading about these guys . Yes it is a fairly new tank. I started it on June 1st so it is about 3 months old. Jim

IMO, they look a little more like isopods but pods are pods really. Just more biodiversity in your tank.

There is no way to identify them by the naked eye so I thought I would take a sample to work with me tomorrow and look at them under the microscope. Thata way I will be able to properly identify them. Like you said, a pod is a pod, I'm just glad things are going well with the tank. I will give you an update as to what they are once I get a closer look at them.

I guess I should say that a pod is a pod unless it ends up being one of that bad guys and starts feeding on the fish. Anyway, I should have them identified tomorrow. Jim

You can identify them with the naked eye...it just involves staring at the tank for a long time with your forehead pressed against the glass, haha. And don't worry b/c the parasitic isopods, aka fish lice, are usually pretty easy to differentiate from the standard munnid isopods you see running around.

Yeah I have a fairly good idea of what they are and I don't see these guys doing any harm to anything in the tank. I think they may just end up being fish or coral food.
