So after reading all the "tank flood stories" I was just up checking out my tank and noticed that the center support in my CPR HOB fuge skimmer combo separated from the back with the back wall of the fuge bowing out.
UGH !!!!.

Ok so I took the fuge off, drained the water down below the center support, pulled the cheato out and placed it into a tupperware container. Used some plastic weld on the center support and clamped the front and back together.

Full cure on the plastic weld is 24 hours. The only problem is that I am leaving town tomorrow morning and get back VERY late tuesday (wed morning for all intents). I want to let the weld fully cure which means the cheato and pods / the remaining sand etc in the fuge will be without flow and a heater for about 2.5 days

Open to precautions / insight to how it will do.

If you're worried about the chaeto you could always just put it in the DT, the pods just won't have a refuge for a while. Maybe put an airstone from your FW tank in the fuge til you get back to keep the water aerated?

They will be fine in a bucket with aeration and without a heater for up to a week and maybe more. No light needed either.

How many inches long is your cpr thing? They might replace it for you.

You may lose a few pods, but the Cheato is nearly indestructible.

I agree keeping it airated when you are gone. You may loose some pods, but as stated above, the Cheato should be fine.
