I have a small 12 gallon sump/fuge and had a 6500K 9 watt fuge light that came stock with the system. It was a Cadlights brand fixture but has since fried. I replaced the fixture with an 8" clamp on aluminum spot fixture from Lowes' and put in a 14watt/6500K compact fluorescent bulb purchased from Lowes as well. I put my Chaeto algae in the display while I was searching for the right bulb but even though the new bulb is 6500K, it's too bright. After a night of running it there is brown diatoms and slime algae starting to form all over the fuge chamber.

Any suggestions on what standard screw in bulb would work? I've seen plant bulbs at HD and Lowes but don't know if they would work.

Any help would be appreciated!
