well my frag tank is driving me crazy to the point of where i want to tear it down cry. Algae is the problem, either dynos or cyano, not sure what it is. the original frag tank was a 20 high and algae started as bubbles, then turned to long stringy slime, pretty sure its a type of Cyano. Frag tank is fed into main tank by a gravity feed split between Fuge and frag tank, then the frag tank drains into the sump.

i tried the following

- increased flow - 2 Koralia Nanos, 1 Koralia 2
- changed the bulbs on my Teklight T5
- increased the height on the lights
- shortened the photoperiod
- Chemiclean - works for a couple weeks but comes back
- changed tanks from 20 high to 20 long
- changed RODI filters
- added fish
- water changes
- no water changes
- prayed

Readings
Salinity - 1.023
Calcium - 370
DKH - 8
Mag - 1300
TDS - 003

Main tank - limited Algae, small patch of cyano in sandbed - hasnt expanded in weeks, if anything diminished
Fuge - Used to have a lot of Cyano on edge of Chaeto, but in recent weeks had almost completly diminished

I am really tired of dumping money into this tank that is just an extension of the hobby and driving me CrAzY undecided

Only other things i can think of is Turnover, the tank does not really get too much turnover. The only three things i can think of is
(1) - Cut off Frag tank from Main Tank
(2) - increase turnover by adding a mag5 to feed tank from sump
(3) - Add chaeto/macro to the frag tank to hope it will out compete the Cyano
