3x a week.

I can't go over 3 days without the water overflowing the sock. I try to do it ever 2 days. I think a week is too long.

Do you mean clean or replace?

I would assume he means clean. I've gone 6 months so far with mine (5 total changing every 2-3 days)

Good question, I assumed cleaned. I only replace them when they start to get worn out from washing, and that takes a while.

you have a tough post here because we all change them more often than your smallest number ! 3 x a week here hate nitrates and the will start overflowing if i dont change every 2nd day .

Every day. I figure if stuff is decomposing in my sock, there is no point in using it.

When I notice water starting to run over the top.

Carlos. You're ordering them by mail aren't you? Or off of Ebay?

typically every 4 days... sometimes every 3, others ever 5.. it rarely goes beyond that.

I go with the majority... 3rd day it over flows.

100 micron, I think mine is. I have 2, so I can swap, and clean the next day.

Try to do it before the water starts to overflow which is around 4-5 days. I am sure the amount of time varies greatly with size of sock. Mine are six inch around about a foot long and I think 100 micron.

Just a suggestion
I have been having mine made using 100 Micron Felt and Net,

They are still far cheaper than from LFS where you are stuck with standard size. Mine at present are 16" X 16" laid flat, will easily last a week allthough I try to change more often. The nylon net type are much easier to clean/wash and its easier to save the shrimp/stars etc out of them. I get around 20 at a time which last well over 2/3 years and gives me more chance to sneak them into the washer when the boss is not around.
Luck.

Wow... I never thought it would need to be changed that often. How in the world do you guys clean these things every 3 days. Seems like a insane amount of maintaince.

I voted once a week but it's more like every 5-6 days.

I have 6 of them, it takes 2 on my system at a time, so I wash every sat morning while the wife is a sleep. This way she does not see what I am putting in the washer.

I voted once a week, that about when it over flows.

If I'm not willing to change them 2x a week, then I don't put them in that week. I store up the dirty ones in an old cat litter bucket and wash them all at once to avoid hassle.
