Do you run a small skimmer, or do you use LR for the filtration? Would a 150 watt MH be good for a 40 gallon breeder tank?

All help would be appreciated.

Yes run a skimmer. You can also have some LR in under the egg crate shelves if that is the route you go.

150 will work for that size tank. however ddepending on what frags you will have a 250 would be a lot better.

Ive got a 40B , I have a GSM1 skimmer, and run 2x 250watt 14k.....but it is an SPS dominated system

A 250 will allow you to raise the pendant or fixture higher so you can access the tank without having to move lights all the time.

That would be nice not to have to move anything to work with the tank. :)
