I am about to set up an rodi system and want to know how much water I can keep on hand. I use about 25 gallons a week total for both water changes and top off. I was going to buy two 55 gallon barrels and always keep one filled with DI and one with mixed salt water. How long will the water last before it goes stagnant. I live in texas with 95-100 degree days. All water will be kept in the garage and will be covered. any help would be great.

Keep it covered and it shouldn't stagnate. There's nothing much in it to decompose. The more air-tight the better, you don't want skeeters laying eggs in it.

Wait.

Maybe you do. Free plankton for dosing with your water changes!

And on the salt water you don't have to keep it aerated but make sure you aerate it for a while before you use it in your tank.

Are you saying that there is no shelf life? how tightly does the lid need to fit?

If the bucket is clean, and the water is purified... what are we worried about with stagnation?

Assuming... no skeeters find a home here.
