Bangai breeding without the brooding?

As most here probably know Bangai Cardinals are mouth brooders. I have had several breedings and have reared the young to adults. When the male carries the young he doesn't eat until he spits the young out after about 27 days this takes a real tole on him and if he is returned to the community tank with females it isn't long before he is carrying another batch. I was wondering if anyone has tried producing the young without the male carrying them using some type of container that would aerate and circulate the eggs?

i just built a egg tumbler because my male keeps spitting the eggs. i'm wating on the next batch of eggs now

the technique you describe is called egg stripping and ex vivo incubation. Its not very common, but a few of us here do it frequently. I've been talking about this technique- for the same reasons you describe -for the past 10yrs.

one of the keys to success w/ eggs stripping is to remove the eggs at a specified time after spawning. not too early and not too late (read the thread), also many have to consider the use of antifungal agents

Thanks FMarini, I'll have to give that a try on the next batch. I have young that are about one month old now (25 with 0 losses) and the male is carrying another batch that is 14 days since spawning.

Oh I forgot to mention that there are two females that look like they are carrying eggs and would like to spawn again!
