It looks like a bristleworm to me. The worms you are referring to very rarely make it into our home tanks.
Bristleworms, IMO, are the best part of the clean up crew.

I think most people just think they are ugly and try and remove them. Just my 2 cents

They're great for getting in the rocks and all that BUT, I finally had to pull one out of my 24g Nano, me and the wife measured it and it was 15" long!!!

Bristleworms are good, but as you said you can take them out if they get too long. However, be careful of the bristles and wear thick gloves if you can, if they get embedded in your skin...oy it is going to be a long night.

I hate those things -- creepy. Ask Marc (melev) about them, as he had to break his tank down to get a 48" long one out. :eek2:

Yeah, thats crazy... I kinda feel like they take food away from other things that could use it more. I try to keep them to a minimum.

Saltcity hit the nail on the head they can get out of hand in a hurry and steal food from your other critters I've seen them take food right out of the mouths of corals. but a few are good for cleaning up left over food.
