View Full Version : Apex - Dual pH Probes plus ORP?

I am currently using both the pH and ORP inputs on the Controller module.

I am getting ready to set up a CA reactor and want a second pH probe to measure effluent and control CO2 to the reactor.

What's the most efficient method to keep the ORP reading while adding a second pH probe to my Apex controller?

It seems to me that using the Apex to control a calcium reactor is kind of like using a machine gun on the squirrels in your yard :)

Personally, I just use a cheap Milwaukee controller for my reactor.

You need to either use a PX1000 or wait for the new AquaBus) probe modules. The PX1000 will give you a second temp probe + 1 PH and 1 ORP OR 2 PH.

But Tim, I already have an Apex, but don't have a cheap Milwaukee controller... ;)

It's not like I'll be taxing the capability of the Apex to multi-task... I was just interested in how to set up the additional probe...

Thanks Ken - any hints on expected roll-out for the the AquaBus probe module?

Maybe I can just use the Apex controller module for the second pH probe and just store the ORP probe until the AquaBus module becomes available... I'm not planning to install an ionizer anyitme soon... :)

My point was that if you want 2 pH and ORP, you're going to have to spend far more than buying a one trick pH controller. Of course, coming expansion ports could be cheaper than the PX1000, but aren't available yet. But if you don't care about the ORP, you've solved your problem.

Yup, I have a temporary solution - now just need to find a second pH probe locally...wish me luck.

Curt mentioned fall this year. You could, as you mention use the ORP as a second PH for now.

That's cool...Fall is about to "fell" ;)

Will any typical quality pH probe work with the Apex, or should I stick to the Neptune product?
