I've been running my JBJ 28 with HQI for a few weeks now and the temps with the lights on hovers between 81 and 84 during the day. At night it drops down to the high 70s. Is this OK?

Thanks in advance.

Some run thier tanks that high and are ok, others prefer to keep it stable at 78-80 at all times (day and night). I bought a cheap fan from Wally World and that keeps my tank at 77 at night and 79 with lights on (my temps were the same as your's when I first set it up).

I was looking at how to fit a fan onto the hood but couldn't quite figure out a clean way to do it. Do you have a photo you can post?

I installed 2 computer fans in the front side of the hood of my 12cube. You just cut out the holes very carefully with a dremel or similar and drill the 4 mounting holes. Next thing is how to wire and control the fans but that's another issue. I have mine controlled by the Reefkeeper lite system but you could simply use the same timer from the lights, this roughly gets the job done.

The smaller one is hung on the wall (can't really tell it's there when you first look at the tank). The other is just a regular fan I keep my room cool with that is slightly pointed toward the tank.

Some people run these on the back:

Thanks guys. I will get the Azoo fan to cool things off a bit.

I just added a jbj chiller. Now my tank stays between 77-79 degrees.

My living room, unless the British weather is execeptionally cold, will always be around 78'F. My tank wil run upto 88'F with halide running 8 hours. This was simply solved with an Azoo fan which keeps the temps at a max of 83-84'F. Tank normally runs at 80'F when lights are off. I am quite happy with that.
