I have a sump and a totally separate fuge. I am running Rio 600's in and out of the fuge but I cannot keep the water level even. It goes up in the fuge and down in the sump or vice versa. The sump is on an overflow and is at the opposite end of the tank (40 gal) from the fuge. What can I do? Another overflow to the fuge? plumb the return from the fuge to the sump? I am at wits end and spending a lot of sleepless nights listening for one or the other to go to low.

The pump in and pump out method for the fuge is a Recipe for disaster. The easiest way to set it up will be to set it up with a pump in and gravity drain out method. You can pump from the DT or the sump and drain back to the DT or the sump. The location of the fuge and your preferences will play a big role in how to set it up.

it's virtually impossible to equalize the flow between two pumps.

the easiest/safest thing would be for one tank to overflow into the other.
