Are they really that good like it says in their video? Or is this not much different from your classic hikari pellets? That video sounds tempting but I wanna be 100% sure before I buy a jar.

I feed my fish almost exclusively NLS pellets. Are they better than Hikari? I think so, but I havent done any scientific tests to prove it.

I do know my fish grow fast, are healthy and have great coloration...

I use both. Only fish that won't take the large NLS pellet is my large naso--but it eats the small ones! He only eats Hikari.

Hikari's sink better IME--the large NLS pellets will float on top if not started out below the water. I can toss the hikari into spots fishes wait and it sinks right to them.

I feed both, and notice no difference in the fish's interest in one over the other. I may be wrong, but I think the Thera-A has more garlic in it, but is otherwise the same.
My complaint is the same as the above... if you dont "throw" them in the water, then they float around for a bit (and down the overflow), the gravity drop out of the auto feeder isnt enough force to get them to sink immediately.

I got a powder blue tang about 5 weeks ago, and so far I have fed him almost exclusively on NLS general use formula. He has gained a lot of weight and color on a diet that is probably 90% NLS.

I also don't like how they float, but you can't have it all I guess. Because the pellets float it taught my 2 pyramid butterflys to eat off of the surface, and now they don't want to go for mysis or other foods below the surface.:mad2:

Yeah, my pyramids are precision marksman off the surface too.

If you can, it's best if you cut your pumps off while feeding the pellets and just run your main circ pump.

Same thing about them going over the overflow. I bought one of those floating feeding rings and haven't had the problem since.

Even have my auto feeder dump the pellets into the ring when I am gone.

The ring is just a floating piece of plastic that keeps the pellets together within the ring until they absorb enough water to sink. Got it at petsmart I think.

It is a main component of the diet for my fish in my reef and they have great coloration and have grown as well. If you have trouble getting them to sink soak them for a few minutes first in tank water, they sink immediately then.

You can set up the autofeeder to dump pellets into the return section of your sump, so they get sucked up by the pump and blown into the tank under the water from the return.

So it that the down side? It doesnt sink very quick?

Mine sink fine, you just have to have a lot of surface agitation. Mine sink immediately when I put them into the water, I wish they didn't because they sink so fast, some get under the rocks.

Reducing the surface tension would do that -- makes sense. Do you have flow directed at the surface of your tank? Or is it just that you have so much it is always agitated.

thera-A is anti-parasitic because it has a ton of garlic in it.

Most of the sponsor vendors here carry them.

i like that they float because my fish rather eat of the surface and they miss less food this way. when i feed mysis and other sinking food they get most but some go under the rocks and i have to depend on my clean up crew getting it.

I tried the exact same thing with the feeding ring from Petsmart, but after about a week all the styrofoam completely breaks apart. I can't find another ring anywhere.

How do you guys feed your pellets? Do you soak them then dump all the pellets in once? I noticed alot of the food going inside the lr...

No, I just drop the pellets on the water, and I don't submerge them they will do that on there own. But I DON'T soak them in anything. Basically it goes right from the jar right to the tank. IMO the Pellets are completely nutritious, so you shouldn't soak them in anything.

Slow down your feeding then, dont put in so much the fish cant eat it before it hits the ground. Instead of dumping in a big pinch of them, maybe do 3-4 small pinches.
