lava rock?

The suff you put in a gas grill. Its super light and full of very nice holes. Could it be used as base rock????

not a good idea. lava rock can contain a lot of metals and residues that can cause a lot of problems in a tank with invertebrates. I've used thoroughly washed and saltwater cured dry limestone "feather rock" a few times and never had any problems, but is still not without risks.

ok. I used it years ago in a fresh water tank. It was beautiful and the plants loved it....I don't to take any chances with this. I will keep the stuff for the grill, in the grill.
