So, I finally tracked down the source of more stray voltage and it's pump. I think I'm up to 3 now in about 2.5 years.

I thought a pump going bad was an urban legend. A bad pump was so rare that it was worthy of an article in a magazine about the author that was nearly fried by a bizarre bad pump.

But, number 3? Strange. It's not like I dropped it.

Is this normal?

The previous two were Rios that used an epoxy to cover the motors.

I think this one is a pond master. I bought it used with a 180g tank. I'm not sure how it insulates the motor. It's still running, but I'll check it out when I pull it from the system.

I can only feel it with broken skin (cut), so it's not a lot of voltage. I'll get out my volt meter and test it before I pull the pump.

All of them are submersibles.
