View Full Version : Why don't Tunze pumps fit AquaSurf?

Ever since I bought the aquasurf the connections just don't fit the tunze pumps. I know this is hard to believe but is very discouraging. I try all kinds of tape to hold them together but every now and again they come apart. I have a brand new pump a it even seems worse. Is Tunze making it difficult for the Aquasurf to work correctly or are the connectors just made wrong? Anyone else have this problem?

I have 2 6055s, 4 6201s and recently added 2 6305s and have not seen any issues with the connections being loose.

Do your connections "lock"? I will try to call or email Neptune because this just can't be right. I have had problems since day 1. The plugs that connect to the Tunze just fall out.

Same here, very loose. I've tried the duct tape route as well and it works for awhile but eventually comes loose. Need to think of another idea...

I have the same issue with the aquasurf connectors. I'm planning on making my own over the weekend.

HOSA MIDI cable.

Pins 1-5 starting on the left

Strip the outer shielding, on this particular cable, ping 3 is the ground, you only need about half of the copper.

On the AquaSurf cable only pins 2, 3, and 5 are used. So I cut the other cables down at the insulation. You need to be very careful not to short out and pins because #3 isn't shielded.

Pinout
RJ45 connector with clip facing down:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
5 3 x 2 5 3 x 2

Works like a champ now and actually fits without any tape or rubberbands.

No idea, I just used one I had laying around the house. I would assume that as long as it's a standard midi cable the pinout should be the same.

I just got a new Tunze 6105 yesterday and hooked it up. I have the same issue with the AquaSurf plug not fitting "snug" into the Tunze port. It literally just falls out. Is there a fix for this? I was previously running a Tunze 6101 and the plug fit tight.

Thanks.

I had the same problem. My solution was to carefully trim off a raised dimple on the tunze cable. When i plug it in, I have to watch that the plastic on the tunze cable does not fold over.

The cable fits with a little trimming.

Sweet, now I know what to do with my old midi cables that have been in a drawer for years now.

I guess all there is left to do is buy my tunze pump.

Thanks for the great info !
