View Full Version : reeflo skimmer problem

i purchased a reeflow skimmer about 1.5 years ago. works great. i then installed the pro kit. worked fantasic for about 3 weeks . out of no were the unit keeps over flowing at random. last night i lost about 20 gallon of water. can not find anything wrong. only thing i dose is kalk. wedge pipe is wide open. ant help would be great full.

Bring the water level down. Your skimmer is just now breaking in since you added the new parts. The random periods of instability should subside in a few days. Also check to make sure the venturi is completely open and clear of dust, saltcreep and calcium.

thanks for the reply, were should or by how much should i drop the water level down to. will check veturi when i go home for lunch. it over flowed a 5 gallon pail overnight. the good thing my equipment is in the basement and my sump pit is near bt. was thinking about buying the auto waste shut off. is it worth it.

Your water level with the skimmer pump (dart) off, should be no higher than the joint where the cup and body meet. It is always a good idea to have an auto shutoff on an external skimmer to help prevent murphy's law.

right now it is about 1/2 inch above the decal.

I believe you are just experiencing the break in. Is it possible to take some shots before the skimmer is running and while running?
