Also consider these in your price range.

Vertex IN-180
Octopus XP-2000 cone

EDIT: I see you are in Canada. I think SWC is based out of Canada and they also offer a great slimmer line. About the same as the MSX and Octo skimmers. SWC 160 at $269 or the SWC Xtreme 200 at $289.

cveverly has made good suggestions - the Vertex IN 180 has many happy owners.
If you are ordering online, the SWC would save you cross border brokerage costs - http://saltwaterconnection.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1
They have a lot of different products - their mini-cone looks very impressive if your space is limited. If you want to spend a bit more, you can get a model fitted with an Askoll pump - very nice.

I'm having trouble finding dealers for GSA GS1 and the Itech 100.
Anyone know online retailers with those models?

I would like a cone skimmer so the Octopus XP-2000 cone is tempting, but I'm concerned about the pump being new and not yet market tested. The SWC/MSX cone is very tempting, but there's a story there for me.....edit: story not really needed ;)
The SWC store/office is 15 mins from my house. The owner actually charges $120 more in the store for the skimmer I'm interested in. It's cheaper for me to get it shipped from swc.com which is just a retailer, not the actual company website.

Are cones much better than regular cylinders?

And what's the difference between the Sicce and the Askoll pumps?

Thanks, again.
