looking for an ID on this blenny i bought, at the LFS it was labeled as a blue spotted black goby. he is black with light blue markings.

bad one of him in the bag, he is about 3 inches long maybe a little more
there is no yellow on his tail either he is solid dark blue/black

Looks like a black comb-tooth blenny to me. Nice find.
Looks like he would have fit nicely in a 180 gallon tank that is very lightly stocked. LOL

I still reckon its a bicolor in stress colours, it may change as it relaxes.

i think your right, i found several pics that look like him i guess black comb-tooth blennys dont have to have the yellow or the light blue marks.

+1 to the black combtooth.(Ecsenius namiyei)

Same family as the bi-color. The blue streaks are stress related, they will fade.

There's actually several different color morphs of the bicolor blenny, some of which are all dark - no yellow tail. Do the spots come and go? If so, I'd say bicolor that is all one color. If no, then I'd say the black combtooth.
