I have 4 barlett's anthias in a 20g QT, that have been there about 4 weeks now. I need to move them into my DT, but I have a question first.

My display currently has a couple tangs that are hogs (aggressive eaters), and I want to be sure the anthias are fed enough. I have an automatic feeder & feeding ring I've been using on the QT (in addition to frozen foods, this was to train them to eat from it). I am going to catch a tang & remove it from the tank, but I'm using a fish corral, and he's slow to go into it for now.

I also have a 40g tank that currently only has a chromis and some corals. I could move the anthias into the 135g (which is what they were bought for), or I could put them in the 40g for a few more weeks until they get even more used to being fed & I'm able to remove a tang from the other tank.

Any opinions on which is better for the anthias - moving into the 40g for a few weeks & being fed more, or moving into the 135g and maybe not getting as much food until I can catch this tang?

Catching them back out of the 40g would be easy, because I can move all the rocks around easily (can't do that in the 135g)

I just got some bartletts today. One of the reasons I bought them was because they were voracious eaters. They are in my display and eating right along with 3 lyretail anthias, 2 tangs, 2 wrasses, 2 blennies, and a few other smaller fish.

I would go right into the big tank, and if you are worried about the tangs etc eating up all the food before the Bartletts get any, then just throw a bunch of Cyclop-eeze in there. The anthias will eat that and the tangs probably won't. I think this would at least buy the anthias time to acclimate into the tank and eventually join the feeding frenzy. They probably can't wait to get out of the 20-gallon, I don't see any benefit of putting them in the 40 and then make another move to the 135
