if you go bare bottom were does the biologic filtration come from and how do you clean the bottom were food falls if its coverd with corals

I think the biological filtration is done through the live rock. If you have enough flow it would be easier to keep the junk in the water column on a BB tank. If stuff does settle to the bottom just siphon in out.

Your biological filtration comes from your live rock. As far as keeping your bottom clean you can siphon out the detritus that accumulates or i have powerheads that come on when the lights go out at nite that are positioned to stir up the bottom of the tank so most of the detritus get suspened in the water column where a fair amount is getting sucked in the overflow into a filter sock. I went BB about 6 months ago and has so far served me well doing it this way.
