I've gotten a new sump (the Eshopps reef model 75) for my 56 gallon corner, and It appears pretty nice out of the box. Here's the sump I'm talking about

My question is, where the bubble trap is, the two pieces of acrylic that are in place (with the sponge wedged between them) are only glued / affixed on one side and the bottom, so if I use my hand, I can wiggle the side that isn't affixed.

Overall it's not a big deal, but should I glue that side before filling it with water? What would I use to glue it with?

Thanks!
Terry

I think that I may have been a bit vague. I'm talking about the baffels in my sump. It appears that they have one free side. In doing some research I found this:

When you cut those acrylic baffles, be sure to leave a bit of wiggle room as the acrylic will swell some. If the baffles are fit tight they can crack the tank.

So maybe the baffels are a bit loose by design?

I'd contact eshops and find out, they have a sponsor forum here. I'd do that before glueing anything as it may cancel out the warranty if you do that.

No, baffels should not be lose...what he is referring to is when you initially cut them to fit the sump you need to take into account they swell.....Once they are glued (use weldon) both sides shold be affixed to the exterior walls of sump....

It was nearly impossible to get a good photo of the clear acrylic - hopefully this helps.

Yea, thats not good terry. Pretty much defeats the purpose of a baffle. Hopefully eshopps takes care of you.
